Rupert C. Chowins, OD
Dr. Chowins is well known on the central coast, having delivered exceptional optometric care for over 30 years, as well as serving as the Eye Clinic Director of the SLO Noor Foundation. A graduate of the Illinois College of Optometry, Dr. Chowins is licensed in the use of therapeutic pharmaceutical agents and diagnosing and treating a full array of ocular diseases, including Glaucoma with a special interest in treating Keratoconus and other corneal issues. He is committed to excellence in routine and primary eye care and contact lenses.
Dr. Chowins is fluent in Spanish and has traveled to the poorest of Latin American countries more than 25 times over the years to provide no cost eye care to patients in remote areas where health care access is minimal.
Originally from England, Dr. Chowins has lived on the east coast and the Midwest but feels most fortunate to call the central coast home.
In his time off he enjoys hiking, biking and kayaking in Los Osos with his lovely wife, Elizabeth, who is also an Optometrist.
