Michael Heeg, MD

Dr. Michael Heeg specializes in diseases of the retina and vitreous. He uses the most current techniques to diagnose and treat diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular disease, macular holes, epi-retinal membranes, retinal detachments and retinal vascular diseases.

Dr. Heeg earned his medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He went on to complete his residency in ophthalmology at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana followed by a two-year vitreo-retinal fellowship at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky.

After completing his training, Dr. Heeg became a full time Assistant Professor within the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH. During that time he was a principal investigator for the AREDS II National Eye Institute study and participated in several national diabetic studies.

Dr. Heeg is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Society of Retinal Specialists.
