Clinic Manager

San Luis Obispo Eye Associates is dedicated to providing a full spectrum of the highest quality medical and surgical eye care and serve our patients in a timely, cost-effective and courteous manner. 
* Travel between offices is required.    
POSITION SUMMARY:
•    The Clinic Manager acts under general direction of the Practice Administrator.
•    Responsible for the general supervision, direction and coordination of clinic operations in accordance with current Federal and State regulations and established policies and procedures.
•    Assist in the establishment and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures and systems for all clinical areas.
•    Manages the procurement of medical/surgical products ensuring prompt delivery and established quality standards at the most favorable cost to the organization.
•    Develops vendor contacts, and analyzes, identifies, and recommends new sources, products and methods of procurement.
•    Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; maintaining a safe, secure, and legal work environment; developing personal growth opportunities.
•    Accomplishes staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; developing, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards.
•    Maintains quality service by enforcing quality and customer service standards; analyzing and resolving quality and customer service problems; identifying trends; recommending system improvements.
•    Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
•    Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
1.    The typical candidate should have a minimum of five (5) years ophthalmic clinic experience with two (2) years supervisory experience.
2.    Must have, and maintain, a minimum certification level of JCAHPO Certified Ophthalmic Assistant.
3.    Demonstrated leadership, organization, planning and coordination skills.
4.    Ability to adapt quickly to office routine and work under conditions of frequent interruptions.
5.    Excellent customer service orientation, applied judgment, multi-tasking abilities and problem solving skills appropriate for patient contact and customer service.
6.    Working knowledge of computers and common software programs for word processing, spreadsheet functions, internet communications, billing, and electronic health records.
7.    Good command of the English language, both verbal and written.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL AND COGNITIVE FUNCTIONS:
1.    Ability to sustain sitting or standing positions for prolonged time periods.
2.    Ability to alternate sitting, standing, and walking positions throughout the day.
3.    Ability to sustain continuous wrist and finger movement – gross and fine motor handling, holding, grasping and typing.
4.    Ability to sustain concentration and attention among competing multi-modal stimuli.
5.    Continuous near and mid-range vision and close and mid-range hearing
6.    Ability to lift up to 25 pounds without assistance and to cognitively employ sound judgment to request assistance when lifting / moving items that may otherwise cause personal injury.
 Minimum Demonstrated Skills
•    Must type 45 WPM
•    Demonstrated proficiency in Customer Service.
•    Demonstrated proficiency in time management and organizational skills.
•    Demonstrated proficiency in communications skills.
•    Demonstrated ability to effectively convey ideas and information.
•    Demonstrated ability to work with Computer Systems.

Medical Assistant - Ophthalmology

We currently have immediate openings for full time Ophthalmic Assistants. Experience in Ophthalmology or Optometry is preferred, but we are willing to train the right individual.
Monday – Friday 7:30-6:00 Availability. * Travel between offices may be required.
In collaboration with our Clinic Managers, the key responsibilities of an Ophthalmic Assistant will include:

  • Participates in the delivery of patient care in an effective manner. Under close supervision perform preliminary screening examinations for visual acuity, history taking, tonometry, lensometry, motility, pupil assessment, visual fields, simple color vision tests, and may perform refraction. May administer dilation or anesthetic drops. May assist with patient contact lens insertion and removal training.
  • Performs stocking and maintenance functions. Maintains physical environment of exam and procedure rooms. Cleans and stocks rooms daily and maintains appropriate supply of sample drug medications as needed. Assists with ordering medical/office supplies.
  • Performs various clerical functions. Assists with appointments and telephone call screening activities. Answers phones, takes messages and relays to appropriate individuals. Under direction of physician, may call pharmacy with prescription refills and records prescriptions in patients chart. Files test results, forms, and letters into medical records.
  • Demonstrates a positive, concerned and sensitive response in the work place. Interacts with patients, visitors, and all personnel in a courteous manner. Resolves conflict in a healthy and constructive manner. Maintains confidentiality of information regarding patients and co-workers; demonstrates respect for individual, cultural, and social differences. Contributes to the positive atmosphere of the work environment
  • Participate in own professional development by maintaining required competencies, identifying learning needs and seeking appropriate assistance or educational offerings.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein. Other tasks assigned by Supervisor.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or Equivalent is required.
  • Previous experience in a medical field or customer service is required.
  • Possess a valid California driver license and current vehicle insurance. We reimburse applicable mileage and drive time for travel between offices.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
